Welcome! #

My name’s Tom and I’m a data analyst from Atlanta. I graduated from Georgia State University in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Linguistics and a TEFL certificate. Since then, I’ve traveled the world working and developing my skills as a teacher. I’ve taught students from all ages and backgrounds in both classrooms and private lessons. I’m just as comfortable teaching a grammar lesson as I am leading classroom activities, but my students and I especially excel with guided readings. I transitioned into teaching LSAT prep courses for students who wish to enter law school. I help students navigate the pitfalls of this notoriously difficult test and teach them how to become sharper thinkers.

I haven’t just taught languages; I’m also a language learner. I’ve formally studied French and Arabic, and since graduating from university, I’ve become proficient in Spanish, Turkish, and Latin. My decade of experience on both sides of the language-learning experience has given me a good idea for what works and what doesn’t.

I’m now transitioning into a career in data analytics. I’ve already helped a successful state house campaign leverage data to better coordinate canvassing and outreach efforts. I’ve also completed several data analytics projects on my own, which you can find here.

I have many other interests, as well: jazz, history, literature, board games, current events, weightlifting, etc, etc. I write about all those subjects and more in my blog.
